On Monday, April 25 an accident involving a dump truck on the Natcher Parkway left two people dead.
According to the Kentucky State Patrol the accident happened at around 10 am on the Natcher Parkway near mile marker 12. According to KSP, the initial investigation shows that a dump truck being driven by Patrick Powell was northbound on the Natcher in the right lane and Powell was distracted and did not see a Kia compact car being driven slowly by 32 year old Jonathan McDaniel. Powell hit the rear end of the car, then went over the top of it and pushed it into the guardrail.
Jonathan McDaniel of Morgantown was taken to TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville by helicopter where he later passed away. A passenger in the car, 52 year old Cindy McDaniel also of Morgantown died at the scene and another passenger, 56 year old John McDaniel was ejected and taken to hospital.
No one in the car was wearing a seat belt.
Powell who was wearing a seat belt was not injured in the collision and the investigation is ongoing.
