On Thursday night, November 24, two teenagers were seriously injured in a head-on collision.
According to State police the accident happened shortly after 11.15 p.m. on Route 21 in Jefferson Township, Greene County. A vehicle being driven by 16 year old Shay Siebert of Nemacolin was traveling west near Gwynn Road and she tried to pass a vehicle in front of her a in no-passing zone. Her car hit a vehicle being driven by 35 year old Michael Colon of Crucible that was traveling in the opposite direction head-on.
Siebert and her 16 year old passenger, Kaitlyn Wolfe of Rices Landing, were flown by medical helicopter to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va. where Wolfe is said to be in good condition and Siebert’s condition is unknown. Colon was uninjured.
According to State police, neither girl was wearing a seat belt and Siebert will be charged with careless driving, passing on a double-yellow line, driving after 11 p.m. on a junior license and other traffic violations.
